21st Sept...Monday, Boston, Massachusetts .....

Tourists for the day to Boston....our train from Newburyport to Boston, the journey an hour and 10 minutes and excellent value at $10.50 return....it's senior's rate (one good thing about this ageing process) and no restriction on time of travel....one hiccup was that parking has to be paid by downloading an app to your phone...ho hum our pay-as-you go Walmart phone not up to that !!! Apparently they will invoice the vehicle owner if no fee paid on the day, we shall see...
Nice smooth ride and interesting countryside, marshy and very similar to Norfolk and the Broads area...
First stop is the visitors centre at Faneuil Hall, this has been a market place and meetings hall since it was built in 1742....the statue is of Samuel Adams, a strong opponent of British taxes and a leading activist at the time of the Boston Tea Party....

Paul Revere's House...situated in one of the oldest residential neighbourhoods of Boston....
Paul Revere's statue....The British Are Coming !!!
The Zakim Bridge over the Charles River.....often seen in one of our favourite TV series, Boston Legal.....

Built in 1798 the "New" State House.....the state capitol and house of government of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts......
Time for lunch at Cheers.....
Hurry up he says I need a pint.....
A very nice lunch...but nobody knew our name !!!

Boston is a good walking city with self guided or guided National Park Ranger walks, we were surprised that there are not more historic buildings considering the history of the area but it is still an interesting city to visit......
The Arthur Fiedler memorial....created from 83 sheets  of aluminium by local artist  Ralph Helmick.....Fiedler was a long time conductor with the Boston Pops Orchestra...

One of the many duck tours....we didn't participate this time as been there done that in Nashville...
Last stop is at the USS Constitution & Museum...sadly under on-going repairs....
A very good day out.....pizza take out on way home from station....

More soon from the Happy Campers....
