12th/13th September...New Jersey...

New Jersey and a good drive down....the Garden State Parkway was a bit hairy at times but at least we weren't towing !!
So fantastic to see Julie again after all of these years and meet her husband Peter....
Julie took us on a tour to the neat town of Red Banks through the suburbs of Rumson (home to Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi) and the Jersey Shore to Sandy Hook Point...it had been very cloudy and the threatened rain sadly arrived just as we arrived at the beach hence a few quick photos of the misty Manhattan Skyline !!

Julie and I at the stables....
Julie and her delightful miniature horses, off today to a horse show...
We had a really lovely visit with Julie and Peter, great hospitality and fabulous to meet up again....
I had to include this pic even though we avoided the New Jersey Turnpike in order that I could mention another of our favourite road songs America by Simon and Garfunkel...:)
On Peter's advise we take a more scenic route home following the Delaware River...we hope to get to Delaware later during this road trip, I'm saving the song  "What Did Delaware" for then !!!

It was a very pleasant drive home and a lovely weekend....the temperature has dropped to the low 60's extra covers on the bed tonight :(
Tomorrow we move on again this time to Old Mystic, Connecticut...an early night for the Happy Campers.....
