We are staying just 20 miles from Gettysburg National Military Park and Cemetery... Again a pretty drive through small towns and apple orchards and through the historic town of Gettysburg... It's stonking hot and very humid but mainly a self-guided auto tour.... First stop the Visitors Centre, as ever lots of information from the very knowledgeable rangers... We start with a very informative film, The Birth of Freedom" about The Battle of Gettysburg then the fascinating Cyclorama...this is a sound and light show featuring the spectacular 377 foot oil painting by French artist Paul Philippoteaux of Pickett's Charge, one of the deciding skirmishes....this was completed in 1884 and was one of 4 he and his team painted earning $50,000 per painting... |

ReplyDeleteWe're so glad you had a great time and a good spot of R & R on Gozo, we have heard that it is a lovely island...
Have a great weekend, hoping the sun will shine, we had a very wet day yesterday and a drop in temperature of 30 degrees but had planned in an "at home" day...beautifully sunny and a clear blue sky this morning...:)
