12th to 15th October....The Adirondacks, Upstate New York....

It's a beautiful very warm and sunny day for our journey from Vermont  via US 7 South to Lake George, New York State....it's a very scenic drive through rural countryside and small towns...
This must be one of the strangest lookingwater-towers I have photographed !!
This is such a pretty drive drive, we love Vermont, it's our favourite New England state.....
The colours on mass are so stunning almost an assault of the "sight sense"...
Time for a rest stop at a very pretty area....we love meeting people and chatting along the way, one of the openers is which part of Montana are you from (our tag/license plate is registered in Montana) then it gets more interesting when we say we are from England...
Welcome to New York.....our campsite and home for the next 4 days is at Lake George, NY....on arriving at the campsite we did have to do a quick repair and pop out to a local hardware store as a nut and bolt had fallen off the campers steps somewhere on route....
This is the parking lot for one of the many amusement parks here in Lake George, .....they are all closed now after the holiday weekend so I shall have to man up and not be disappointed that I won't be able to go on any of the rides :(
One of the sightseeing/dinner cruise boats....
Lake George and Fort William Henry is an historical area, the fort was constructed by the British to protect the colonies from the French !!!

The main reason for our stay here is to visit the Adirondack Mountains for more "leaf peeping"
Again the colours are stunning...
A phrase we recently saw outside of a school is very apt "autumn is the second spring as every leaf is a flower"

Sadly the more into the mountains we got and by lunchtime it is raining but  still colourful...

The Hudson River on it's way down to New York and The Atlantic Ocean....
The Gore Mountain ski area....the gondola rides are not open but great views from here and very peaceful....
Day 2 in the Adirondacks and it's starts to rain again early afternoon but even if the photos don't do it justice we have our memories....

And now for something completely different.....Eagled eyed Yorkieman spots this majestic chap soaring above us....
Time for a short walk to Buttermilk Falls....

Another shot of the Hudson River....

Our lunch sandwich spot......I have run out of superlatives for the fall colours, the vast forested areas make such fantastic viewing, we have to say add this to your bucket list....
Another observation of this general area, apart from the "pumpkin people" is the residents have fantastic displays of Chrysanthemums.....
Tomorrow we move on a bit farther south 170 miles to Harpursville, NY..... it is starting to get rather cold at night.....

All being well more soon from
The Chilly Campers....

  1. Hi Sue & Michael,
Once again all looks fantatstic.Well done on spotting the eagle what a majestic creature,Mr Bloor would be envious of your spot.Hope the running repair was no problem and the camper steps are good. Like the look of the river sightseeing / dinner cruise boats very appealing.
Weekend again for us ,better get to the fridge for some liquid refreshments.
    Take care,enjoy.

  2. Camper steps fixed, now got to fix the ceiling fan, just like having a house always something to do !! The road surfaces in Virginia on our last move were excellent (not always the case even on toll roads) but there were a couple of nasty bumps (just as well I do a good job of packing the cupboards) and it's loosened the light/fan fitting !!! Thank goodness for the Leatherman, who knew it would be such a useful Christmas present all those years ago...
For Mr Bloor I am very impressed with myself as I am not a bird spotter I leave that to Yorkieman but even I spotted an eagle soaring on the I-81 but not the place to stop especially when towing !!!!
    Have a great weekend...
    Sue :)
